Being part of Salonkee means that you are part of an A-team. An A-Team is one in which all of your colleagues are extraordinary at what they do and are highly effective and inspiring collaborators. Our version of a great workplace is not about fancy offices or our famous self-made beer. Our idea of the great workplace is an environment where you can work and strive for more, alongside likeminded people in pursuit of an ambitious mission we all deeply care about. It is in such a team we all learn the most, perform at our best and have the most fun. At Salonkee we believe that satisfying work is a key ingredient to building a great company.
The right fit
Being part of Salonkee’s A-team is not right for everyone, and that is OK. Many people value rather repeatable, predictable, consistent work environments over a more agile, ever evolving, ambitious and challenging environment. Salonkee likely isn’t the right fit for the former type of person. However, if you are constantly seeking a challenge, are always hungry for more, love to be surrounded by ambitious colleagues and if you are not afraid to step out of your comfort zone, you are likely to be a good fit for our mission.
We get our hands dirty, together
We get things done as a team and we are not afraid to get our hands dirty. We strive to move the company forward and help team members in need to the best of our ability. This is the reason we’ll never say “It’s not in my Job Description / not my responsibility”. It’s in everyone’s job description to nurture, grow, develop, represent, support and to be Salonkee. Each and every one of us not only has, but feels a responsibility for and to who we are. It’s the passion for what we do that cannot be defined by a job description.
Result-oriented rather than time spent
We believe that people thrive on trust, flexibility, and on being able to manage their own time efficiently. That is why we foster flexibility over fixed working hours and results over time spent on a task. We believe in putting the right person in the right position and giving them the necessary freedom to perform at their best. In fact, we think that results (and the lack thereof) speak for themselves. If you enjoy what you’re doing, time only plays a secondary role.
Strong teamwork is key to the success of Salonkee. This is why we don’t tolerate “brilliant jerks” in our Teams. Our view is that brilliant people should also be capable of decent human interactions, and we strongly enforce that. When highly capable people work together in a collaborative context, they inspire each other to be more productive and ultimately more successful as a team than they could ever be as a collection of individuals.
Make mistakes and learn from them
We don’t condemn mistakes. In fact, it’s quite the opposite. We try all sorts of things and make plenty of mistakes along the way. Making mistakes is part of the process that leads to success. Openly admitting mistakes, facing them with humility, and most importantly, learning from them is what moves Salonkee forward.
Loyalty provides some peace of mind and helps everybody focus on the big picture rather than the noise around it. Employees with a strong track record at Salonkee get leeway if their performance takes a temporary dip. Similarly, we expect our employees to stick around in case of any temporary challenges that might arise in the future. However, this doesn’t mean we expect an unconditional allegiance where people stick around in a declining company or where we keep employees in positions that don’t fit their skillset.
Excellence in service
We are masters of customer satisfaction. Low turnover and high retention rates are part of our secret sauce. ZERO customers should ever stop working with Salonkee due to bad customer service. No matter the job position or job title, our current and upcoming customers are at the heart of what we do. We expect everybody to always strive for the highest possible customer satisfaction. Being the “Love brand” in our industry already started in the early days of Salonkee, and is deeply ingrained in our team’s DNA.
Communication is a key ingredient for any high performing team. We strongly value and encourage regular, open and honest communication across all levels of the whole company. We try to find the perfect balance between honesty and kindness . No matter what, though, we always treat people with respect.
We have high ambitions; we encourage and allow everybody to reach for the stars. We are not aiming for marginal improvement and are not satisfied with being average.
